It started out like any other boating trip.  Got the gear and the boats in the truck and headed out to find a nuevo rio.  But the Fates had another card to play, livestock.  On the way to pick up Freddy, the shuttle driver, we ran into a herd of bulls.  That in itself would normally be enough to dissuade most people, but not Louie.  After talking to about half a dozen locals until we found one that understood spanglish we finally determined that we had found ourselves in the middle of a running of the bulls and a pretty grande fiesta.  Well, the main road through town was closed, so we decided to stop and see what the big deal really was.  In general, it involve beer, stupidity, and half-nekkid dancing girls.  My kind of place.  Louie was still set on the rio, though, so I had some fast talking to get hime to postpone it for one day.
Waking up groggy the next, we set out for the shuttle driver and the man who knows where the put-in is.  The shuttle driver was ready, but the guide was appartently still at the party.  So we decide we might as well do the Tepango again.  We get to the put-in and unload.  I am about to put on when Louie starts talking to the locals.  Next thing I know, we are loading up the gear again and off in search of a nuevo rio.  We have directions but no guide.  No problem.  We finally find the put-in and take-out and get the shuttle driver shuttle bunnies situated with some cervasas for the wait.
We start done the river and are a little disheartened after talking with some locals on shore who said it was only a 20 minute run.  But, luckily for us, 3 hours and a few nasty rapids later, we reached the take out.  Also lucky for us, our entourage had the wherewithal to purchase more beer for the ride home.
What can I say...just your typical boating trip in Mexico.
