The May/June 2007 issue of American Whitewater has an article by Rocky Contos about the Río Ameca near Puerto Vallarta.  He put in at the town of Tepuzhuacán  and took out at the Las Gaviotas diversion dam.  The Lava Cliff section about halfway through had several large rapids that Rocky rated at class V at the high water level they experienced.  This stretch is 100 kilometers long and is raftable.
